TRASH 2 CASH x NORMAL

Trash 2 Cash x NORMAL turned sustainability into a game everyone wanted to play.
Instead of talking about waste in the abstract, we built a physical “Trash 2 Cash” hub on the festival grounds where guests could collect trash, cash it in and choose what their impact should be.

Throughout the festival, guests brought cups, plastic, cardboard, bio-waste and more to the Trash 2 Cash counter. Here, everything was sorted correctly behind the scenes while, in front, the experience felt like a fun game: you handed in your bags, earned points, spun the prize wheel and decided whether your “winnings” should be used on rewards or donated to selected NGOs.

NORMAL supercharged the concept by filling the prize shelves with a wide selection of their most popular products – but there was a twist: you couldn’t buy anything with money, only with Trash Cash. If you wanted that mascara, face mask or fun gadget, you had to earn it by cleaning up the festival.

The result was a simple piece of gamification that unlocked extremely high engagement: cleaner grounds, constant traffic at the Trash 2 Cash area and thousands of micro-moments where sustainability felt playful, social and genuinely rewarding. Guests didn’t just party at AiaSound – they helped take care of it.

WHEN GARBAGECOLLECTION TURNS INTO A GAME.

Trash 2 Cash didn’t just clean up the festival – it caught national attention.
Ekstra Bladet visited the activation and produced a video spotlight on how guests could turn cups and trash into prizes, donations and real impact.

The feature followed the buzz around the Trash 2 Cash stand, captured the energy at the prize wheel and showed how a simple, playful mechanic made sustainability feel fun, social and worth talking about – far beyond the festival grounds.
